Vendor Spotlight: Farm Fair Market

May 08, 2014

If you are visiting or live in Sandwich, MA and are interested in finding our products locally, you can visit Nicole at her store. Nicole was in fact my first wholesale client and I am very thankful for her early encouragement and support. It only seemed natural to have her as our first vendor spotlight!

Farm Fair Market focuses on locally grown, organic bulk foods and environmentally friendly products. Nicole Cormier is a Registered Dietitian with 8 years experience, local food enthusiast, owner of the nutrition consulting company, Delicious Living Nutrition, Inc. & Farm Fare Market, author, and host of Radio Brunch.

Q: What is your favorite green tip?

A: Composting!

"Compost is the heart of the organic or traditional farm. Composting is a thoughtful, deliberate act and requires diligence, but its rewards are ever-so-dear to our health and soil.  By collecting plant debris and allowing it to decompose over time, we create a soil that is rich and full of nutrients. When we give back to the land, the vitamins and minerals present in the compost, make their way through the roots and the stems of the plants we grow, and eventually onto our plates."

Q: Why did you start your business?

A: "When I started out I was only working with nutritional counseling clients one day a week … and now six years later I am really proud that the business has grown in directions I never imagined.

While I knew I wanted to help people adopt a healthier lifestyle through nutrition, it didn’t occur to me that I could actually help them grow it.

Now, in addition to being a Registered Dietitian, I’m an author, a blogger, a local food enthusiast, and a farmer-in-training … among other things!

I am passionate about teaching people how to play an active role in improving their whole health by developing new relationships with food.  And, I believe in the power of connecting farmers and consumers to create a more educated community.

Whether for my clients, the community, or the broader public, I’m focused on sharing knowledge because it really is power.

By arming people with information, I can make a more lasting impact – and I know from seeing it with my clients that knowledge is the only thing that motivates change."
